I’m curious if someone can ID what kind of jumping spider this is? I’m located in Australia and it came out at night while I was finishing up some stuff on my desk. Left it alone in my room and it can stay in there for all I care tbh. I also have a few questions about its behaviour because I’m wanting to learn more about spiders to reduce how freaked out I am by them and I know jumping spiders are a good place to start (hence the funny ass freak out when it jumped bc it was so quick and they jump way further than I thought! lol).

1. Are those little front arms pedipalps? If so/not why are they doing some sort of repetitive rocking up and down motion?

2. Does it put its front legs up high like that when it wants to climb or jump?

3. Why was it always investigating me and trying to get closer? Does it want to get to higher ground? Because it was giving me weird, curious head tilts with those big beady eyes but I don’t know what to make of it. And I didn’t record it bc I was a little freaked out but little mate was persistent trying to get to me!

I’ve been finding a bunch of them around my house and just let them be but I’ve been observing them and been so curious about them so I hope someone can answer me :) I found another one on some plastic and I carefully picked it up to observe it from the other side (fearfully). I got a cool photo of its underside but that one had a weird horizontal, white stripe on its back but other than that was identical to the one on my desk didn’t. Does that mean it’s a different sub species or something?

ID for Little spider who thought it’d help me with my work?
