Cough cough

A fatal disease is mentioned.

Next scene, a character coughs. You just know they’re dead in the next three minutes.

I watched an excellent preview screening last night where you find out the first act is actually taking place six years ago. Characters see a news report about COVID and one of them wonders if it’ll pass. They cough in the very next scene and are dead a few scenes later.

Honk honk! I heard the horn on that trope bus coming!
