Would it be a bad idea if I (26F) bought my boyfriend (29M) a music festival ticket?
So the lineup recently dropped for a music festival that we like, and he said it’s their best lineup in years. I also agree that it’s a really good one. But the thing is he’s been unemployed recently so I know he wouldn’t have the money to spare on the ticket himself. I don’t mind supporting him and getting him nice things during this time at all, especially since he did the same for me when I was unemployed two years ago.
However he’s said before that it makes him feel bad when I spend money on him knowing that he can’t do the same in return right now. And I would really hate to make him feel bad, I want to do this as a nice gesture but not if it would make him feel inadequate in some way. But even though he can’t afford it himself right now, I still think he deserves nice things.
Especially cause he’s been so stressed with job searching and his mom having cancer. Like, he’s had it so rough lately and I can tell things are really weighing on him. I just want to help and make him happy and I know he wants to go, but I can’t decide if it would be more harmful or helpful if I were to do this for him. I don’t want him to feel like a burden and I’m worried he would if I were to spend this kind of money on him during a time he can’t reciprocate.
It’s just tough for me to make a decision, I want to do something nice but not if the impact outweighs the intent. I’d hate to make him feel bad about himself by buying him a ticket. So what do y’all think, is it a good idea or no?
P.S. Presale starts in 5 minutes so if anyone wants to answer quick that’d be much appreciated haha
