2 months post Botox and I lost my burp, but coming back slowly.

Other

TL;DR My burps disappeared for a month after getting sick but seem to be slowly returning.

I know there are people that don't get any burps for months after Botox, but I have never heard someone lose it after a few months. This is exactly what happened to me and this is where I am now.

41yo male, 80 units of Botox under GA given November 26, 2025. Micro burps started the next day, 2 days later I had full, relieving burps up until the first week of February 2026 and my burps have not come back fully, but I hope it does.

Everything was perfect until I got sick with what I initially thought was a head cold, lots of mucus, runny nose, headaches, no fever. But because it lasted for so long (about 2 weeks) I thought maybe it was COVID. I don't know what the sickness was, but I was miserable.

I noticed my muscles were tight, as well as in my neck. I am also someone who does not benefit from shaker exercises, shakers actually make my burps less frequent and they make gurgles return.

The day I had symptoms of being sick, my burp nearly completely vanished very literally overnight. Sparkling water did nothing but bring the pain and gurgles back. As the sickness progressed, I became more convinced my burp was gone forever but as of yesterday (February 25, 2026) my burp seems to be returning, slowly but I think it is.

I have been getting only micro burps back as of a few days ago, but I had my "second" first burp yesterday after nearly the entire month of nearly nothing. My reflux has gotten worse, but manageable and it is also in remission which is more than likely from me trying to push too hard trying to get burps out. Still only micro burps mostly now and still in a waiting stage but still hopeful.

Not sure if anybody else has experienced this at all but either way, this is something I have not heard before and maybe will just let people know that this procedure recovery can be fickle and not to freak out.

I am not looking for help or encouragement, just showing that this procedure is not cut and dry, shakers can actually be a hindrance rather than not, everybody reacts differently, and the procedure is totally worth it.
