How long do finger prints stay on a gun? Do police usually log all the fingerprints in some type of system that stays for years?
I know it sounds like kind of a ridiculous question but I just kind of put two and two together through some childhood memories. And everyone in the story has passed away now so I don’t think it matters for the most part. Basically my dad had a sawed off shotgun I found in the garage hidden and I was a dumb kid so of course I touched it and picked it up and aimed it around. I can’t be sure if it was the same gun but I believe my dad sold the gun to someone since I never saw it again and around the same time I remember hearing that one of his friends went to jail for killing someone with a shotgun.
So I was curious how long fingerprints stay on guns. I’ve never been fingerprinted or arrested luckily but I’ve always wondered if that ever happens are they gonna run my prints through the system and could they have a match from when I was like 10 years old.
