Hey, I’m back with another theory involving Norse mythology 🙂 So yeah, we all kind of widened our eyes when we saw Enid’s invitation card thrown into the fire in the teaser.

Anyway, since I’ve been into mythology lately, I tried connecting the different clues we have with northern legends… mostly because it amuses me. First, Wednesday wondering at the end of the season whether she’ll find her friend again or the beast that consumed her. Then Enid’s card burning, plus that spiderweb window losing its colors…

Putting it all together makes me think Enid’s “light” might be getting smothered. In a way, Enid is like a little sun in Wednesday’s very "lunar life". I know it’s an easy comparison, but it reminded me of a myth. In Norse mythology, the sun is Sól, a goddess who drives the sun’s chariot while being chased by a wolf, Sköll. She can’t stop running because if she does, the wolf devours her. And that’s actually tied to the end of the world, Ragnarök. Sköll eventually catches Sól and devours her. Then comes a long darkness, followed by the war of the gods, the ouroboros serpent releasing its tail, everyone dying, basically the end… 🤯😂😂😂

Okay, that’s a very quick summary, because in the end a new cycle begins, with a new sun and a new pantheon. Anyway, I found the symbolism interesting.

Enid is a werewolf. She transforms late but eventually learns to control it… at least until she discovers she’s an alpha. Then she loses control a bit. What surprised me is that even in her alpha form she seems to keep her human sensitivity. But what if that’s actually the risk? What if the danger is the animal spirit taking over, her human personality being “devoured”?

Maybe that dance scene was her swan song, and the old version of Enid will disappear in favor of… a new one? 👀

I also talked before about Berserkers, those warriors who channel an animal spirit but lose part of their humanity in battle. And yes, I know some people don’t like the comparison with Hyde, but for the record there are two main types of Berserkers, wolf and bear (there might even be a third, but let’s keep it simple).

So maybe we won’t see Enid as we knew her in Seasons 1 and 2 for a while. That doesn’t mean she won’t appear, just that she won’t quite be the same. I initially thought she’d come back pretty quickly, and I still do, but maybe the burning card symbolizes a personality shift. Maybe instead of a long winter, what we’re seeing hinted at is something closer to.... an eclipse? The light obscured but not necessarily gone forever.

There’s also an interesting parallel with Wednesday. If Enid embodies the sun, then Wednesday has always carried something lunar about her. And here’s something interesting, in Norse mythology, Sól has a brother, the moon, Máni. He is also chased by a wolf, Hati (whose name is associated with hatred). Knowing that the showrunners often talk about sisterhood, I found that parallel really interesting, two celestial forces, both part of the same inevitable cycle.

One last thing, there’s also an intriguing link between powers and personality. Enid’s wolf form and eye color are completely different from Wednesday’s wolf version. Which makes me think that if Wednesday ever lost control? What if Hati, hatred itself, were to devour her? Then… well, that could get seriously dark 😅

Anyway, I’ll let you think about it, do you find this plausible or completely off track?

As for me, I’m still leaning toward the idea that Wednesday, whether intentionally or not, is ultimately the one who breaks the cycles.😉
