This equivocal 1.0 hsv1 test is driving me crazy. Should I even care??
Everything is flat out negative including HSV2. I dont get cold sores. But every time I get an STI test HSV1 is equivocal. It has happened twice in between tests and the value never changed. I Google the values and they say that 0 - 0.09 means flat out negative but 1.1+ means you basically positive. What about 1.0?
My doctor said that its likely a false positive. But I have people in my city slandering me claiming I have herpes because of a bad dating experience (long story) and I just want to clear the air and my name. And I also want to have a peace of mind myself which is most important.
Then I call the clinic and they say the NAAT test is only for open legions so they can swap. I ask about the Western Blot test and they say it doesn't tell the difference between the viruses or something. Im just really frustrated.
Should I even worry about this? Cause as I said I dont get cold sores and everything else is clean. Hepatitis, HSV2, HIV, Ghonorrea, Syphilis, etc all are negative. But this damn HSV1 test has came back equivocal twice. With no different values or anything.
And I hadn't been tested in years because I was in a longterm relationship and we both got tested before and during our relationship. Never had any symptoms of anything.
Help me yall please.
