Built a Grok Imagine SaaS in 2 weeks → 2.2k users & $13.4k revenue (30d). How do I scale without blowing up?
Two weeks ago I hooked into the Grok Imagine API and shipped a dead-simple image + edit + video generation tool.
Current traction (as of today):
• 2,293 total users (+596 this week)
• $13,404 revenue last 30 days (lifetime same)
• 147k generations (1521 today)
• 89 paying subscribers + 627 pack buyers
• Gross margin ~48% after xAI costs ($6.9k API spend)
It’s literally just a clean frontend + credits system on top of Grok Imagine. No fancy model training, no rag, nothing. People are using it for social content, product mockups, thumbnails, even short video clips.
The product is working. Now I’m hitting the classic “it’s growing faster than I can handle” phase.
I’m looking for brutal, specific advice on:
-
User acquisition – what actually works in 2025 for AI image tools? (I’m doing Reddit + Twitter + some TikTok, but want the next 5-10x)
-
Retention & pricing – currently credit-based. Should I switch to unlimited monthly tiers? What’s converting best right now?
-
Infrastructure & costs – xAI bills are climbing fast. Anyone running similar wrapper products and how are you optimizing/caching/queuing?
-
Team & ops – solo founder right now. When did you hire your first person and for what?
-
Moderation – flagged content is already 6.8k in 30d. Best tools/practices when you’re on someone else’s model?
I’m not here to shill (link in comments if you want to check it out), I genuinely want the r/SaaS brain trust to roast my plan and tell me what I’m missing before I burn all the margin on dumb mistakes.
Appreciate any war stories or frameworks — especially from people who went from $10k → $100k+ MRR on AI wrappers.
Thanks legends 🚀
