The Top 5 Reasons Why Your App Might Get Rejected (And How to Fix Them)
Getting rejected after waiting days for App Store review is one of the most frustrating experiences as an app developer. I went through 50+ real rejection cases on Reddit, Indie Hackers and Apple's developer forums, here are the 5 most common reasons and how to avoid them.
(Not in order just a list)
- App crashes
many apps fail in the first few seconds, because if apple can't open your app properly, they can't review it.
- "Coming soon", "Beta Version"
Why would you finish an unfinished product? Apple sees this as a violation against guideline 2.1 - App Completeness
- Referencing to the Android version of your app
This is "Irrelevant Third-Party Platform Information" and leads to an instant rejection, so try to avoid it. Also is true for any other thrid party app/company.
- Privacy Policy!
if you collect user data it's very important that you double-check if the url to your privacy policy works/exists before you submit
- Misleading screenshots or description
Be very precise when describing your features especially if some of them are only for premium users. Apple expects your screenshots and description to accurately reflect what free users actually get.
Reading all these stories gave me the idea to build a tool that scans troughs your metadata and screenshots to find guideline violations. Will be free to some extent, sign up for the waitlist at www.appoval.com
What rejection reasons did I forget or how was your experience with the topic?
