NUC7CJYH1 No-POST after BGA removal of soldered WiFi (AC9462). Is it an open circuit or strapping issue?
I work in an industry that recently underwent regulatory changes requiring certain deployed systems to have wireless components physically removed — not merely disabled through software.
I had the soldered AC9462 WiFi module professionally removed from my NUC7CJYH1 (June Canyon). When plugged in, the board has 19V standby (green LED) but won't trigger a power-on sequence. The unit is essentially "brain dead." Looking for anyone with board view/schematic knowledge of this CNVi implementation.
Here are the symptoms:
- 19V green standby LED is on.
- Power button does nothing. No fan spin, no diagnostic blinks, no auto-boot.
Intel support previously hinted that the CNVi module isn't just a peripheral, but provides critical "pull-ups and wake signals."
Does anyone know if the June Canyon motherboard requires specific pads to be jumped/strapped to "fake" the presence of the module? Specifically, does the AC9462 provide a 'Power Good' or 'Clock Request' signal that the CPU/PCH needs to see before it will exit the S5/Standby state?
I've already tried a full CMOS reset and battery pull with no luck. If you have access to a schematic or have successfully "de-WiFi'd" one of these boards, I'd appreciate the insight!
