High earners- what do you actually spend your money on?

I’m an upper-rate taxpayer but my lifestyle still feels pretty normal. I live in an apartment, do a standard weekly food shop, and go out for dinner at a nice place once a week either local or central London. (I don’t live in London).

I don’t buy fast fashion, I prefer good quality clothes that last (I still wear pieces I bought 6-7 years ago). I drive an older BMW. I have recently started investing in a buy-to-let. I spend money on skincare, do my workouts and travel 2-3 times a year. I don’t do credit cards or overdrafts.

I’m curious, for other high earners, where does your money actually go? Did your lifestyle significantly change as your income increased, or did you just scale up investing/saving instead?

Would be interesting to hear how others approach it.
