Simple suggestions for making Johnny a more viable hero and improving his pick rate:

* **Give him more survivability.** He desperately needs something. A shield, bonus health, etc., like every other flying hero has (Star Lord, Ultron, Iron Man, now also Storm). Right now, after losing his Sue shield, his kit almost needs an Ultron drone to be used effectively (mid to close range)., and I have seen this actively discourage people from picking him, especially because he becomes insanely team-reliant (and healers don’t want to spend time on flyers). Johnny is not a weak character in the comics. He is constantly tanking blasts and heat of various kinds, saving lives. He shouldn’t die quite so easily. **He needs something at least like Storm’s new bonus health or just a permanent ability like Sue’s/FF’s team-up he had before.** This would instantly help his kit become more accessible and improve pick rate.
* **Consider more abilities to reflect his being made of plasma.** Passive damage in a radius (not much, just enough to scare/deter enemies) or passive damage to melee attackers. Johnny is made of fire. It’s silly he has nothing to show for this. This shouldn’t be used in place of giving him that survivability mentioned above, but it’d be more fun for his kit if he better reflected his powers.

I enjoy Johnny the way he plays right now. Could his meteor cooldown be shorter? Absolutely. But when I had the Sue team-up, I didn’t even mind his nerfs. He really needs more survivability to help him stand on his own and not die instantly. It doesn’t suit his character, and he is by far the weakest flyer in the game, with no way to help himself out in the field, unlike literally everyone else.

The new Storm bonus health has been a game changer for her. Johnny at least deserves that much chance to be a threat even after people notice he exists, because right now, if you don’t have an Ultron drone, you can’t make those incredible, risky plays Johnny would be characteristically doing - not unless you’re an expert at his character, which is why his pick rate is so low and his win rate high among the few who choose him.

I don’t even disagree with keeping him high skill (I immensely enjoy his current play style), but I genuinely think making him not so pathetically weak and a free kill in so many eyes would help greatly with his kit’s issues and his pick rate issues.

It isn’t like it’s unviable. The Sue team-up gave us what we needed, so it isn’t exactly OP. That’s really all we need - we need that back.
