I'm getting a hamster after not having one since childhood!
Hello all! I've decided to get a hamster again but this time with my own job and money, I want to do it right and spoil the little guy. I came to this conclusion because I started volunteering as a small wild animal rehabber, and was going through my old hamsters' belongings and really miss her. But since they're not suitable im starting all over and getting new things and just want to make sure I'm doing it right with real people.
The only thing I have at the current moment is the enclosure, which is a 90 gallon tank that my parents were planning on throwing out (830 square inches). It's been cleaned out before but months ago so I'm doing it again with pressure water and some no scent cleaning substance I use for my other small animals such as my birds.
I plan on getting either a dwarf or robo, since I really like to see high activity in them and don't mind it not being too cuddly. I'm ordering two sandbaths that are over 8 x 11 and one 10 x 12 inches and a wheel that's 10 inches. But I'm really here to ask if everything so far is okay and what are some dangerous products I should avoid when going on my shopping spree? I already know which branches are safe and which to avoid, that hamster balls are unsafe and plastic should be avoided, but what are some less popular dangers for hamsters that I should know? I plan on scrolling this reddit a while to learn more, so hello everyone!
