On the second day of our On-the-Job Training (OJT) at University of Southern Mindanao (USM) Kabacan, particularly at the University Information and Communications Technology Center (UITCT), on February 18, 2026, the entire day was mainly devoted to data encoding tasks. Although the activity may seem simple at first glance, it required a high level of concentration, accuracy, and patience to ensure that all information was entered correctly into the system.

We started the day by preparing our assigned workstations and reviewing the instructions given by our supervisor. The staff oriented us on the specific data that needed to be encoded and reminded us of the importance of maintaining confidentiality and data accuracy. We were given files and documents that contained various pieces of information which had to be transferred carefully into the digital database. Before encoding, we made sure to organize the documents properly to avoid confusion and to work more efficiently.

Throughout the morning, we focused on entering data into the system. The process involved carefully reading each document, verifying the details, and typing the information into the appropriate fields. We were reminded to double-check our entries to minimize errors, as even small mistakes could affect the accuracy of the records. Even though the task was repetitive, we understood that it was an important responsibility because the data we were handling would be used for official purposes. This helped us stay focused and motivated while doing our assigned work.

By the afternoon, we continued encoding the remaining data assigned to us. While the task required continuous attention, it also gave us a better understanding of how important data management is within an institution. Proper encoding ensures that records are organized, accessible, and reliable for future use. We also learned the value of time management, as we had to complete a certain volume of work within the given timeframe.
