Regardless of what you think about ID policies/laws say "parents should just watch their kids" is a dumb argument
I don't think I should have to lock my door when I leave the house but I can't because there's people who like to steal stuff so I have to inconvenience myself when I get home. This isn't a policy opinion, this isn't even something that's completely realistic(I'll explain), this is just anger.
We live in an imperfect world where there's always going to be people not doing what they're supposed to. Expecting everyone to do everything right is extremely unrealistic. Even if we sign a law saying you have to keep up with your kids and the governments going to be constantly checking, there are going to be people for whatever reason not doing that. It's the same with burglary. They solved the crime poverty issue in places like Sweden and there's still people doing just for fun or just to get some money to party. You scare people into not breaking in as well with massive policing but there's still some dude going around checking doorknobs because he believes that means you consented to him killing you so he can stop earthquakes.
Seriously come up with an actual alternative or something. Not just "reality should be like this" because reality is reality, it isn't what you think it should be.
Type pineapple if you read the whole thing.
