The brain is a receiver according to common sense

Metaphysics aside, isn't this actually just a really obvious thing? I mean where do you think qualia comes from? From the environment. There is no hearing without sound that comes outside the brain. There is no vision without light that comes outside the brain. The brain doesn't create anything that doesn't come from outside. It rather processes information.

We can't place the brain in nothingness and see whether or not it creates something by itself and even if we could I'm pretty sure it wouldn't do anything.

Therefore it's a receiver for consciousness based on physical laws and common sense.
