Chapter 5: Formulating a Strategy
Inside Pinster Street 7, Leonard opened his eyes.
In front of him, the golden-haired girl was tightly curled up on the ground. Her body was covered in dragon scales, frozen in the state of an incomplete mythical creature about to form.
Due to Amon’s prior warning, Audrey had differentiated a virtual personality on her mental island as a defense. During the recent corruption, this virtual personality had blocked most of the erosion for her.
On the sofa, the kind old man with no visible wrinkles had already stood up. "He" stretched out his right hand and twisted it slightly, stealing a portion of the corruption from the Celestial Worthy.
This caused the veins on "His" forehead to bulge, and "His" body subtly threatened to disintegrate into numerous translucent small worms.
Pallez hurriedly returned the corruption.
This back-and-forth action effectively slowed down the process of corruption, giving Audrey a certain advantage in her tug-of-war with the corruption.
She immediately seized this opportunity to conduct self-psychoanalysis, further suppressing the corruption within her body.
Leonard also reacted, reciting calming poetry to help Audrey soothe her chaotic and mad tendencies.
After several repetitions, Audrey steadily controlled the mental corruption from the Celestial Worthy, exited the incomplete mythical creature form, and stood up.
“Thank you for your help,” she said, curtsying with her skirt.
Due to her recent struggle, her golden hair was disheveled and damp with sweat, and her mask was slightly askew, making her appear pitiful.
“You need to be careful going forward, constantly examining your inner self. Spectators are the least likely to lose control, and also the most likely to lose control. Since "He" has already contaminated you, this corruption could recur at any time.”
Once "He" confirmed that Audrey was out of danger, Pallez sat back down on the sofa: “What exactly did you do to trigger such intense corruption?”
“Uh… we encountered Klein? Miss Justice, did you see his mental island at that time?”
Audrey tidied her mask and hair, then sat down on a nearby sofa: “Strictly speaking, I was actually observing the surrounding subconscious sea. At that moment, above the subconscious sea, I saw several light spheres rising. Uh… just like the light spheres Mr. World meditates on, which we saw in the ‘Hall of Truth’.”
Leonard nodded thoughtfully, while sighing with emotion: “I never thought it would be like this… After you left the dream, I saw Klein, at least 50 meters away from us… Is this what Amon meant, that just looking at his mental island would cause complete loss of control?”
“I don’t think it’s that simple. I didn’t see his mental island at all at the time; the corruption seemed alive as if… it was trying to actively pushing to corrupt me”
Corruption which is alive? It can do that? Leonard imagined it and felt extremely horrified.
He subconsciously said:
“Is this dream too dangerous for Beyonders of the Spectator Pathway… Miss Justice, I think you should…”
“Ahem, on this matter, I have a different opinion,” Pallez, who had been sitting quietly to the side, suddenly said.
“Slumber will greatly weaken the Primordial One’s will, making "Him" lose "His" initiative, leaving only passive, instinctive erosion. This doesn’t align with what you encountered. I believe the Primordial One must have felt threatened to forcibly overdraw "His" power, break free from slumber, and hope to corrupt you, or to bluff, making you temporarily afraid to enter the dream.”
—"He" could not directly refer to the Celestial Worthy as the Lord of the Mysteries, as the Outer Deity was knowledge inconvenient to disclose to them; thus, "He" could only reluctantly use “Primordial One” as a similar semantic reference.
“But Miss Justice can’t directly face Klein’s mental island and hypnotize him. Why would the Primordial One feel threatened?”
“Naive! Do you think the power of a Spectator lies in direct confrontation? Manipulating people’s hearts from behind the scenes, making what one wants to achieve become a trend eagerly awaited by many, that is where a Spectator’s true power lies.
“Your former colleague’s dream, while seemingly submerging his self-awareness, should actually have weak points. If a Spectator appears in the dream for a long time, he might discover the dream’s flaws and use them to awaken his consciousness.”
Leonard suddenly understood: “Old man, do you mean that Miss Justice should take advantage of the Primordial One’s weakened will to explore the dream more deeply and play a role within it?”
“Ahem, I didn’t say that. I just wanted to tell you that such corruption won’t happen frequently. The specific course of action is up to you.”
"Old Man" Pallez seemed unwilling to make a decision proactively… Although "He" is relatively conservative and cautious, "He" shouldn’t be the kind of person unwilling to take responsibility… Perhaps staying in the dream for a long time carries other hidden dangers, making "Him" somewhat indecisive. On one hand, not wanting us to be deceived by the Primordial One’s will, and on the other hand not wanting "His" suggestion to lead to another undesirable development…
This is very reasonable. If the Primordial One’s deception were so simple, we could just find any knowledgeable angel to decipher it… Hmm, it’s not impossible that "His" ability to scheme in a state of slumber is limited…
Audrey had already made up her mind that, no matter what, she absolutely had to participate in the matter of awakening Mr. World.
She smiled slightly and said: “In fact, I have also separated an identity that remains in the dream. So far, she has been acting according to the original plot of the dream and doesn’t seem to have alarmed any existence.”
“My idea is just as Mr. Pallez said, to avoid directly influencing Mr. World through Beyonder abilities, but rather to present events that can strongly move him while keeping it reasonable within the dream restrictions, supplemented by hypnotic methods that do not involve mysticism, to help him awaken his self-awareness.”
“As for direct Beyonder ability treatment, that should be something done after Mr. World has initially recovered his self-awareness and is capable of cooperating.”
“This way, I won’t be so easily subjected to the Primordial One’s corruption.”
“But Amon is also in the dream… Oh, old man, why is Amon in Klein’s dream? Also, the Red Angel Evil Spirit evolved by Medici suddenly stopped when it saw me and told me that Klein is difficult to awaken because he opened the seal of the West Continent and was influenced by the beliefs of the West Continent…”
But why would Mr. World be affected by beliefs?… This sounds more like it’s referring to The Mr. Fool… Huh, Amon is also like this; they seem to assume that we are awakening The Mr. Fool… There must be some connection here… This is foreseeable, otherwise Mr. Fool wouldn’t have fallen into slumber with Mr. World…
Audrey carefully observed Pallez, and heard "Him" say:
“Amon likely used his spiritual residue on the Uniqueness, utilizing the power of the Trojan Horse of Destiny, to create a loophole and enter the dream. I don’t know about Medici…”
"He" completely skipped over the issue of beliefs… "He" is an angel, and should be very knowledgeable about beliefs and anchors; it’s impossible for "Him" not to notice such an illogical thing… There’s still a secret here… Hmm, "Old Man" Pallez is still very concerned about Mr. Star’s safety, which at least proves that this secret won’t bring him danger… Don’t pry too much for now, compared to these, we still have too many things to uncover and organize…
Oh also,, Amon lost his Uniqueness… This aligns with my previous speculation about his strength being damaged…
“....Old man, Amon also said he wants to visit you. What should we do?”
“Heh heh… He and I no longer have direct conflicts of interest, so the situation won’t be too bad… When it comes to deception, He should be more interested in deities, and wouldn’t look down on an old and weak angel like me…”
Old Man, Amon is much older than you…
Audrey followed their conversation and asked: “Amon lost "His" Uniqueness, so "His" Sequence has decreased?”
“Yes, if nothing else has happened, he should only have the Sequence 2 status now…”
What kind of existence could cause Amon’s Sequence to decrease… Is it Mr. Fool? Was "He" therefore more severely contaminated? But Mr. Fool said that "His" slumber involved a struggle beyond Sequence… Audrey, stop thinking, aren’t you afraid of getting more contaminated?
“We can observe Amon’s situation further. From today’s interaction, "He" didn’t show strong aggression; on the contrary, "He" provided us with meaningful reminders. I believe there are two things we need to do now: First, deepen our understanding of the dream world, which might be achieved by collecting Roselle’s diary; Second, design a plot that could bring a strong emotional impact to Mr. World, and this requires your help, Mr. Star, as I think you have a very deep understanding of Mr. World.”
A plot that brings strong emotional impact… tsk, does that mean letting the captain die again?… Nope, Klein would kill me if he knew… Indeed, that would be too heartbreaking…
Mr. Star, Leonard, agreed to the second request, while feeling an unusual unease about potentially exposing his friend’s privacy.
Pallez also closed "His" eyes, as if seeing these two Tarot Club members walking further and further down a path of unknown consequences…
…
Under the bus stop sign on Phoenix Fly Road, Sauron Einhorn Medici, with a cigarette dangling from his mouth, looked at Audrey, who had suddenly appeared and then disappeared, then looked at Zhou Mingrui, who was walking towards his workplace with a confused expression, and chuckled: “Little Crow, the Mysteries here aren’t weakened enough…”
As he spoke, a raven truly appeared out of nowhere, slowly landing on his head: “That’s the Genie’s business, not mine.”
“Heh, aren’t you two the ones who least want that Lord of the Mysteries to awaken?”
“That’s Mr. Fool; I’m just here to experience different lives. But you, aren’t you afraid of Cheek appearing here?”
Medici raised his eyebrows and laughed provocatively: “I’m looking forward to it.”
The evil spirit and the bird stopped talking, just standing silently under the bus stop sign, watching the various people on the street, ordinary and busy, moving through the lively city.

Chapter 6: He Is Not Serious
The contamination from Celestial Worthy ultimately had no impact on the Audrey as it was an identity which went inside the dream .
She just frowned, withdrew her hand, split off another identity, and entered the dream again with this Audrey, through finding the Mind Island of "University Student" Audrey inside the dream through the Sea of Collective Subconsciousness.
This was the pure Audrey, the way Audrey was before entering the dream.
Because the Beyonder power was weakened, doing this took a considerable amount of effort. After finally completing the disguise, Audrey stood invisibly beside "University Student" Audrey, closed her eyes, and began to search her memories.
She needed to interpret Roselle’s diary according to Audrey’s plan in reality. And to exchange for what she wanted from Mr. Fool, she had memorized many pages.
She randomly picked a page to read:
“January 16th
The taste of a Demoness ain't bad”
Taste? What taste? Ah… it couldn’t be… the taste I’m thinking of, could it…
Emperor Roselle! You are actually such a person! Don’t you mind the Demoness’s many evil deeds, and her once elusive gender…
At this moment, Audrey felt her spirit was harmed. Her image of Roselle was instantly plunged into deep confusion…
Knowing too much is really not a good thing… Alright Audrey, you need to be more mature. In the grand premise of chaotic and mad order at the bottom of society, Beyonders, more or less, will have aspects that don’t quite align with social morality. Audrey shook her head, forcing herself to think about more important matters.
Perhaps there’s a problem with my method of selecting diary entries… Hmm, I should look at the first three pages of the diary first, as this might contain more information.
The reason she knew it was the first three pages was because she had seen them in the Roselle exhibition:
“February 23rd, 1143.
It’s been over a week since I transmigrated to this world. I need to write something, to vent some things, otherwise, I feel like I’ll go crazy.”
“Hehe, I’m writing in simplified Chinese, so no one will be able to decipher it. This world uses alphabetic writing!”
Transmigration? Isn’t this just a literary fantasy in this dream world? Emperor Roselle thought he had transmigrated?
Uh… This is not what I expected… I thought the beginning of the diary would be full of mystical thoughts… However, this at least indicates that the Emperor’s memory indeed underwent a mutation similar to that caused by transmigration…
It seems that in the Emperor’s eyes, Roselle script was just his former mother tongue… So, this dream world, with both Roselle's script and the concept of “transmigration,” along with the various inventions Emperor Roselle once proposed, does it correspond to the world before Emperor’s “transmigration”?
If that’s the case, Mr. Fool also knows this world. This place should have special significance for him, so when he was in slumber, it manifested as a dream… Could "He" have originally belonged to this world, also a “transmigrator”? No, one shouldn’t assume “transmigration” is real; too many possibilities could lead to the same result, such as resurrection accomplished through mysticism, or some kind of spiritual remnant…
—Because of Amon’s and Medici’s hints, Audrey believed this was actually Mr. Fool’s dream. "He" was subtly influencing the developments here, while Mr. World was merely wandering unconsciously under "His" care.
Audrey continued to recall:
“I am now Roselle Gustav, but I will never forget my true name.”
“Huang Tao!”
Huang Tao! I know that name!
Although Audrey reading this diary was just an identity, she knew Mr. Star’s introduction to her main body:
“Their company boss is named Huang Tao, but I haven’t met him on my visits.”
Huang Tao… Huang Tao is Emperor Roselle!
Is Mr. World in the dream working for Emperor Roselle’s company? No wonder it’s called “Intis Group”… But why isn’t Mr. World a subordinate of Mr. Fool? Is this Mr. Fool’s arrangement?
She temporarily put this question aside and continued reading, then was disappointed to find that the subsequent content was worthless; Emperor Roselle didn’t even understand mysticism in the early stages of keeping his diary.
It’s all various accounts of romantic conquests… I really can’t imagine Emperor Roselle’s private life was like this. This isn’t like the subconscious desires I often see in people, Emperor Roselle turned them all into reality… I feel like he’s someone who can’t quite control his desires and dark thoughts…Is this what we have been giving to Mr. Fool?
Audrey immersed herself in other diaries and soon found that they were also of little value. Most of them contained some hidden mystical knowledge and history, but their value was even far less than the knowledge she had once learned from Little Sun.
Mr. Fool allows us to exchange low-value diaries with "Him"… Even if "He" can’t determine the value of the diaries before reading them, continually exchanging for information meaningless to "Him" is too much of a loss… Hmm, this is Mr. Fool’s benevolence... Audrey, you must not fail in devoting yourself to Mr. Fool!
But why doesn’t Mr. Fool directly grant us the ability to interpret Roselle’s diary? Granting a language ability should be a very simple matter for a deity like Mr. Fool…
Audrey thought for a while, attributing the reason to not wanting to disclose the contents of the diary.
I still need to collect more of Roselle’s diaries… Perhaps I can ask Miss Hermit to see if Queen Mystic will allow me to borrow them… Also, I need to explore the dream itself more; I can’t put all my eggs in one basket…
Audrey opened her eyes, observed briefly, and confirmed that the "real" Audrey could passively act like a character in the dream without interference, with no trace of being discovered. Only then did she lift her skirt and left the trajectory of her "University Self" story inside the dream.
She was going to the library to read. In a situation where she couldn’t freely wander the subconscious ocean, this was the fastest way to understand the dream world.
…
At Pinster Street 7, Audrey, sitting opposite Mr. Star Leonard, suddenly stiffened severely.
Leonard was recounting his experiences with the Tingen Nighthawks team. The heavy past made him unable to be lazy, and it was also why he quickly noticed Miss Justice Audrey’s abnormality: “Miss Justice, is there a problem?”
Am I supposed to tell you that Emperor Roselle had an indescribable relationship with a Demoness?
Uh, should I share the Roselle diary I saw with Mr. Star? Mr. Fool didn’t grant us the ability to read Roselle script before, does that mean he doesn’t want us to know too much…
After a brief internal struggle, Audrey decided to follow the natural course of events: “Mr. Star, do you still have the ability to read Roselle script in the real world?” If he could, Audrey would, of course, share it with him; if not, then she would primarily collect it herself, only revealing some key information to him.
Leonard didn’t expect her to ask such an unrelated question. He scratched his chin and said, “No, I can’t. I’ve tried to interpret Roselle’s diary. It requires me to forcibly memorize the content of Roselle’s diary in reality, then enter the dream, and interpret the text from memory.”
Huh? Why can I read Roselle script in the real world? Audrey was very sure this wasn’t due to the help of her identity within the dream. She attributed it to the difference between passively receiving dream indoctrination and actively mastering it in the subconscious sea.
“Then did you find any particularly meaningful information? I browsed the Roselle diary entries I had memorized, but I didn’t see any very helpful clues.”
“I’ve only seen one page… There was no helpful information. I suppose that’s normal; Roselle’s diary can’t mention secrets related to Klein’s dream on every page.”
Audrey nodded, noticing Pallez change his posture, seemingly very interested in the content of their current conversation.
"He" is also curious about the mystical origins of that dream world…
“I think I need to try borrowing a diary from Queen Mystic. Uh, no rush for that, let’s talk about Mr. World first. I apologize for interrupting you, Mr. Star.”
“Ahem, where was I? Oh, according to Klein, he died and was resurrected due to the curse of Antigonus’s notebook, then he went to Backlund under the alias Sherlock Moriarty. It was then that, for revenge, he became Mr. Fool’s Blessed.”
“Later, I happened to be in charge of exposi- ahem, investigating the Tarot Club. I noticed Sherlock Moriarty’s figure frequently appearing in several related cases, so I conducted some detailed investigations into him and got to know about his general social circle. But as for his exact experiences, I’m not clear; I need to investigate further to give you more detailed information.”
Audrey nodded and said with a smile, “Thank you for your hard work, Mr. Star. Your narration is truly very helpful. Based on what we already know about the Tingen part of Mr. World's experience, I think what could leave a deep impression on Mr. World, besides the death of Mr. Dunn, should also be the process of him gradually making his family’s life better. In my eyes, Mr. World should be a very soft-hearted person, and his family should hold an irreplaceable position in his heart.”
Leonard nodded thoughtfully: “I still remember the pain of his brother and sister when the news of Klein’s death reached their home. Agreed, I think this is a very good starting point. Knowing, and perhaps even witnessing, his family’s suffering, yet being unable to go to them and tell them he’s still alive.”
Indeed, a very good idea… Mr. Star is really serious, much more perceptive than he usually is at the Tarot Club… Maybe having experienced the death of their captain, his heart would also be impacted, and losing a companion became unbearable, so he is more inclined to do his utmost to salvage similar situations?
“By the way, Mr. Star, what are the names of Mr. World’s brother and sister?”
“His brother is Benson, and his sister is Melissa.”
Melissa? Audrey’s eyes widened suddenly, then she realized; “Melissa Moretti?”
