🏠Stop Renting and Start Owning with the "Help to Buy Scheme"
Are you tired of watching property prices climb while you’re still saving for that elusive 20% deposit?. The Australian Government Help to Buy Scheme is a game-changer designed to get you into your own home much sooner!
What is it? 🔍
It’s a shared equity scheme where the government literally chips in to help you buy your home. Instead of a massive 20% deposit, you could start your homeownership journey with as little as 2% deposit.
How it Works 🛠️
- The Government Contribution: The government contributes up to 30% for existing homes or up to 40% for brand-new builds.
- Equity Share:Â In exchange for this contribution, the government holds a proportional share in your home.
- No Rent or Interest: You don't pay rent or interest on the government’s share while you live there!.
- Your Name, Your Home:Â Your name is on the title, you own the home, and you live in it day-to-day.
- Buy Back Over Time: As your financial position improves, you can choose to buy back the government’s share in increments or all at once.
Are You Eligible? âś…
To qualify for this boost, you generally need to meet these criteria:
- Income: Annual taxable income at or below $100,000 for individuals or $160,000 for joint applicants/single parents (we hear you…it is pretty limited)
- Property Ownership:Â You cannot currently own any property in Australia or overseas.
- Citizenship: You must be an Australian citizen.
- Age: Must be at least 18 years old.
- Owner-Occupier:Â You must live in the home as your principal place of residence.
- Price Caps: Each state and city has various property price caps.
Why Wait Years? ⏳
Saving that extra 15% deposit can take years of sacrifice. With Help to Buy, you can bypass the need for Lender's Mortgage Insurance (LMI) and start building equity in your own castle instead of your landlord!
What do you think of this new scheme. Do you think this is your ticket to homeownership? There will only be 10,000 lucky Australian families/individuals to qualify each financial year.
