India has world's biggest wedding industry, so why are we inviting and planning like it is 2005? Here is why we built Bulawa.ai.

Saturday Spotlight :spotlight:

Hey everyone!

I have been building in the startup space for a bit now, and I wanted to share a quick milestone. We just crossed 600+ wedding invite websites created on Bulawa.ai!

As a sustainability enthusiast, I started Bulawa because I found physical invites expensive, wasteful and tree-killing. I soon realised how Indians who adopt digital wedding planning are still using international wedding tools that just don't "get" Indian traditions. In the last few months, we have been able to build amazing features and scale the product to over 500 couples, 600 wedding invites and 1000s of guests, all with limited marketing.

What does Bulawa.ai do:

  • Wedding invite website builder (ready in under 60 seconds)
  • AI photo, logo and artwork generator (creates pre-wedding style shots from your regular photos, logos and event artworks for your wedding invite).
  • Digital guest management & RSVP tracking (huge lifesaver for Indian guest lists)
  • Budget trackers and to-do lists

It's been a wild ride starting this and seeing it grow. If any of you are currently planning a wedding or just have some thoughts on the product/UX, I would love your feedback!

EDIT: Heard you loud and clear on the name! "Bulawa" might be a brand ceiling for us. I have been holding iwed.ai for global markets, but it feels like that identity might fit exactly what we are building for India as well. Would love to get a vibe check - does iwed.ai feel like a better fit for a high-end wedding tech platform that works globally?
