Horror Chipotle NRO experience

Seeking Advice (Employee)

I’m writing this in hopes that people who come to Reddit to look at what potential jobs are like see this.

I started at chipotle as a KL, I’m new to my area so this was the first job I was able to land but they seemed eager to train me and it had good growth potential so I was all in.

They had me start by training in prep in the morning with the other opening KL’s however none of them seemed interested in training me. I was hired to be trained at one location and move to another for the grand opening. I was basically fending for myself and solely going off of the training videos I watched which is not ideal whatsoever. Eventually after I complained to my GM who was moving to the new location with me, (she is also 20 btw I’m 24 for context) I finally started ti get some manager training and I was offered the SL position for the new restaurant because I was basically the best option. So I continue to train and I’m taking in as much as I can and the boom it’s time to open the new place. Training the new crew members was fun but a real eye opener for me, with only having two months of training I was a baby compared to the people who came from across the country to train our crew. I was the lead SL under the GM because we had no apprentice so there was a lot expected of me. Chipotle is very strict with their rules and regulations, all of a sudden we’re open after only three days of training and the staff is incapable of doing their jobs because they’ve been taught to work in teams and then thrown into the opening shift by themselves. It was truly tragic to go through. Every review coming in was terrible, the wait for food was so bad we had people waiting over an hour for mobile orders and about the same just waiting in line for food. Every day there was something going wrong, the dishwasher broke on day one, the office door would randomly lock and we were unable to open it, everyone was taking advantage of the sick policy so on top of being behind with prep and food on the line I would have crew coming to me complaining they don’t feel good and in jeopardy of keeping my job, I had to let them go home which leaves me working four stations by myself with a line wrapped around the restaurant. Truly it was so embarrassing to be a part of and I feel absolutely terrible for leaving everyone behind but I was sacrificing my health and sanity and surely not being paid enligh for it. The last straw was the 19 hour shift I had one days notice for. I’d work here again if it was at a slower location, and probably not as a manager but a crew member. That was too much
