WIBTAH for not being upset or sad?
So, I (17F) and my father (43M) have a very strained relationship. We both suck at communicating with each other. I suck at in general, only talking about certain things with certain people. And, talking to him about anything, important or not, can be very challenging because he just doesn't want to listen or he takes it out of proportion. We haven't been close since I was kid and over the years, it just got worse. I was supposed to head to his place this weekend but he changed his mind, sending my mother a long, several paragraph message on why, with most of the info not being true or taken out of context, one of them is me calling him after school.
I used to do it everyday day but sometime last semester, he said that due to him working two job, he couldn't answer as often and told me to just text him, which I was find with. I liked calling him but I understood. The problem was that I have a routine after school and calling him was a part of it, something I enjoyed doing. He said that I can call him around 5pm but I usually clean the kitchen at my place around that time and do other things like homework so calling him can be somewhat challenging and I can and will forget.
I love my pops but his refusal to listen when it matters, his pettiness, although funny sometimes, can be very frustrating, and how he makes it seem like I'm the only one at fault when he is just as to blame as me, is draining. I try talking to him but it's more like talking to a stubborn dog or a brick wall. I understand that I'm not innocent in this, and I have tried to fix my communication skills. But, all of this just feels like whiplash. He's a good dad and I love him with all my heart, just as much as I love my mother, but, this is just too much for me and it's honestly messing with my anxiety.
