Barb offers Jen the dress, but it’s too late

Here’s my theory: Barb realizes that Jen choosing/wearing her mother’s dress is a symbolic gesture that centers Barb and affords her positive attention at the event. Barb also wants to be the savior and swoop in publicly at the last minute to save the day. I predict Barb gives a toast at the rehearsal dinner and gifts Jen the dress in front of everyone.

Obviously it’s too late. Jen already bought a fabulous dress. There’s not time for alterations. Barn feels rejected and humiliated. Drama ensues.
