WIBTAH If I cut off my mother for not being supportive.

I (25)F have lived with my mom since I was 20. I moved out of my mentally abusive father's house. In the hopes that I would have support to study for my asvab so I could join the military. But 2 days after that my stepdad died from a blood clot. And my mother fell into a deep depression. So I've felt obligated to help take care of her ever since.

I had my daughter in 2024. Ever since I've had her my mom has constantly made me feel as though my daughter and I are burdens. But in the same breath calls us her reason for living.

I started dating this wonderful man last year and he has been asking for us to move in with him the whole time. Him and my therapist both keep telling me how toxic my current environment is. I know they're right but it hurts to think that I'll lose both my parents. My Mom says she likes my boyfriend, but just the other day she pulled me aside and told me she thinks I'm settling for a "broke firefighter" the thing is my mom doesn't ask me about how I feel about him.

She assumes that everyone wants exactly what she does. I don't need to be worshipped I just want to have a partner who loves me, and I have that. Then last night she blew me out the water when she said "love isn't worth being poor"! I couldn't believe she actually said that. I had already decided I plan to move out after my daughter's birthday since my mom planned it but that solidified the realization that I will never have her support.

So reddit WIBTAH if I completely cut contact with my mother?
