HELP: Resume a trial button randomly appears

Hi, I'm not sure if anyone knows what I am yappin about, but sometimes if I leave a trial (like mid-escalation) straight to the menu or console menu, an option appears on the main menu to resume/continue the trial I just left, but I'm confused because sometimes it appears and sometimes it doesn't and then I have to start the trial from the beginning, does anyone know why or how the continue/resume trial button appears or does not appear? I tried looking on google but I am having trouble finding info, just wondering if anyone here knows. Thanks
