Culturally Curious

I was born and brought up in Delhi. I don’t really have a “native place” to say I belong to. But culturally, I feel like I belong everywhere and nowhere at the same time.

I’ve always been always attracted to different cultures Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi… and maybe even outside India lol. Their folk music, their temples, their traditions, the way they speak, even small practices pulls me in like I keep wondering why they follow certain ways, the mythological stories behind them, and how those cultures have changed over time from what they used to be. I don’t always understand the language, but I still feel something when I listen to their songs. As a kid, I used to pick up random words from movies or shows in different languages and try to say them myself.

Sometimes I wonder why I feel this pull towards cultures that aren’t “mine” technically. It’s not imitation. It’s just genuine curiosity and connection.
