a friend (kinda) randomly blocked me and went no contact

so I have a friend that I used to be super close to for about a year (we met at our workplace) before we got different jobs and kinda separated. still talked time to time but eventually grew apart. I try to bring up events so that everyone I was friends with at that job can have a little get together, but they never leave the group chat. the most recent time was to try to go to the movies! I told them about it and.. accidentally ghosted them for about a month. I got a new phone and didn’t have discord downloaded so I had no idea they texted me back about updates. by the time I go back into it, my texts wouldn’t send and it appears they blocked me. I tried text messages too, and no contact. not sure if it was because of the ghosting or other reasons

It’s been almost two months since then and I’m just not over it. they were such a dear friend to me and even though we don’t talk much it was reassuring that they were there. I really loved them as a friend and I’m contemplating making a new account to friend request and try to send them an apology. but I don’t want to seem like a stalker and want to respect their wishes to have nothing to do with me.
