What things you like in live action Star Trek shows made after 2017?

Hello, it's me again: the obsessive weirdo that tries to learn about people with opinions different than his own. Under my previous post the comments turned into an unintentional Rorschach test, so this time I'll try to keep things simpler.

I am fascinated with people who enjoy Kurtzmann's Trek; what I find frustrating is that more often than not their opinions I encounter during some confrontational discussion between them and oldschool trekkies. I want to learn stuff that's not burdened with such a thing.

Therefore: I would greatly appreciate if the fans of the new live-action shows (animated stuff is a different category to me) would share with me the simplest of things - their personal opinion. If you are a person that enjoys Star Trek made after 2017 - especially if you think it's even better than the old Trek - please tell me what things you do enjoy about them.

I would also greatly appreciate any people who dislike the latest shows to abstain from commenting here; I do not wish this to turn into another "old fans vs new fans" flamewar. Only positive things here, please!

They say the best way to lead is to do it by example, therefore: out of all the shows produced after 2017 I liked some of the 1st season of SNW, because:

  • it returned to the "dillema of the week" formula
  • nurse Chapel is properly hot
  • some episodes focused on the crew's encounters with strange new worlds and cosmic phenomena, prioritizing science fiction element of the show over drama
  • it managed to abstain from in-your-face memberberries
