Agent or No Agent?

My wife (32) and I (34) are finally ready to buy our first home after renting for a few years. We’ve saved up, we’re prepped to make an offer, but now we’re stuck... do we get a real estate agent, or just go solo and figure it out ourselves?

I’ve been deep diving on Zillow, obsessively reading stuff online, and watching mortgage rates. Agents seem helpful, they find homes, handle the paperwork, negotiate, all that. But honestly... is it worth paying their commission when there’s so much info online now? Kinda feels like we could figure it out ourselves, but I don’t want to screw this up either.

Part of me wants to skip the agent and save a few bucks, but I’m worried there’s some big downside I’m not seeing. Anyone here actually bought a place without an agent, how’d it go? Or if you used one, was it actually worth it?
