Late May Itinerary Review

Hi r/ZionNationalPark! My husband and I are first timers coming to Zion late May. We have done a few hiking trips (i.e. Sedona, Grand Canyon) previously so we are excited to be able to come this year to Zion (and surrounding area). I wanted to get some feedback on our itinerary for pacing and recommendations.

Day 1 -

  • Drive in from Kanab after lunch (coming from Page)

  • Canyon Overlook Trail late afternoon / sunset

  • Dinner @ Switchback

Day 2 -

  • Narrows (not the permit, just lower portion)

  • Lunch @ Hangry Goat

  • Observation Point trail late afternoon / sunset

  • Dinner @ Anu

Day 3 -

  • Angel's Landing (permit before 9AM)

  • Lunch @ Zion Canyon Brew Pub

  • Emerald Pools and Watchman Trails in afternoon / sunset

  • Dinner @ Spotted Dog

(Leave next morning for Bryce)

Some questions:

  • We were going to rent gear to do the Narrows - how much equipment should we rent? I was leaning towards a chest-high bib

  • Very lucky to have gotten our Angel's Landing permits. We get up usually at 6AM - what time would you recommend for the before 9AM time slot?

  • Swap any hikes? We can't camp anywhere, but we aren't afraid of strenuous hikes

  • Any other recommendations of day-time things to check out? We will have a rental car

Thanks!
