Dr Ntanos - Hygeia Hospital booking process

I cancelled my provisional surgery date with Dr Ntanos and wanted to share my experience. 

First step was I emailed to get more information and got a quick response with the next steps and how to book a paid consultation. 

During the consultation Ioannis was very friendly, professional and thorough. This made me decide him as a surgeon, along with his reputation, and also Greece as it was a bit cheaper.

I emailed him to see the date he was available to book. It took 3 weeks to get a response. This made my mental health worse.

It seems like he does his own admin, is a busy surgeon so I tried to be patient.

Once we confirmed a date he was quick to send a short email with the letter for work for time off etc. It seemed like he got to his emails maybe once a month.

I asked about paying and was told I’d be sent information because it’s different for Greece. But no info about contracts, next step etc. I hadn’t heard anything back in 4 weeks. To me it wasn’t gonna feel real until I paid the deposit. And this started giving me doubts.  

I know he’s an amazing surgeon and a lovely person. And maybe this looks like, ‘what are they complaining about? Some late emails. Dr Ntanos is worth it.’

But the lack of replies was triggering dysphoria and my mental health was getting worse. I’ve been on the NHS waiting list and trying to save for years and I never thought surgery would actually happen. When I sent the email to cancel, I got a reply straightaway. 

I couldn’t take waiting and I needed to look after my mental health. You might be okay with that, just thought I’d share.
