Stay for promotion or consider higher-paying opportunity?
Hi everyone, I’d appreciate some outside perspective.
I’m currently working at Company A (BPO setup) with a net pay of around ₱40k/month (after deductions). I’m aiming for a promotion this year, but there’s no guarantee. Even if promoted, I’m unsure how significant the salary increase would be.
Pros of Company A:
• Stable setup
• HMO + government contributions + 13th month pay
• Follows PH holidays
• Hybrid (officially 3x onsite but usually 1x)
• Company-provided laptop/equipment
• Good client relationship
• Fellow Filipinos working with the same client
• They’ve invested in me (trainings, travel opportunities, mentorship) and trusted my potential
I also have approved leaves for planned travel in the next 3 months.
Now I’m being considered by Company B (direct hire overseas firm):
• Estimated salary range is ₱60k–₱80k (small chance ceiling could be higher)
• No formal offer yet
• Salary paid directly (no local deductions — I’d handle my own taxes)
• HMO after 6 months
• Paid leaves after 3 months
• 13th month pay
• Follows PH holidays
• Fully remote
• Likely using my personal laptop
• I would be the first Filipino hire in the firm
My dilemma:
• Stay for potential Senior title and stability?
• Or move if the pay jump is significant?
• Am I overvaluing the importance of leaving with a Senior title?
• Is it wrong to feel guilty leaving a team that has treated me well and invested in me?
Would really appreciate honest thoughts.
