Is tazarotene a good alternative if I can't get tretinoin?

I’m not in the US, and my doctor won’t prescribe tretinoin. I can’t switch doctors either because the waiting lists here are super long. I’ve looked into online derm services but they’re way too expensive to keep paying for regularly.

I can get tazarotene pretty easily online though. I know it’s also a retinoid and maybe even stronger than tret, but I’m not sure how comparable it is for hyperpigmentation and early fine lines. My main goal isn’t acne, it’s more post-acne marks and some mild aging stuff.

Has anyone used tazarotene instead of tret for pigmentation and anti-aging? Is it a decent alternative?
