How to globally add a parameter to multiple scene states
Hey everyone,
I’m building a SceneSwitcher system in TouchDesigner for OBS.
Each scene shares the same structure only the values change. For example, parameters like:
• WebcamScale
• WebcamTranslate1
• WebcamTranslate2
• AudioVolume
• ScreenCaptureTranslate1
• ScreenCaptureScale
Right now, I’m using one Constant CHOP per scene. So if I have 8 scenes, I have 8 Constant CHOPs with identical channels, just different values.
It works, but the issue is scalability.
If I want to add a new parameter (for example, adding a new visual control or another transform value), I have to manually add that channel to all 8 scenes. That’s tedious and error-prone.
I’ve looked into Replicators, but adding a new custom parameter to the master COMP requires regenerating the replicas which resets existing values. So that doesn’t really solve the problem.
What I’m really looking for is a clean, data-driven way to:
• Keep one shared parameter structure
• Store different values per scene
• Add new parameters globally
• Without wiping or manually editing every existing scene
How would you structure this in a scalable way?
Thanks!
