Hi, lately I got some tools from Music Nomad, and wanted to try to so some fret leveling to learn something new. I got for this purpose cheapest Squire Esquire Telecaster.

I encountered few issues along the way:

\- when trying to get the neck as straight as possible though at some points along the neck I could see minimum of light coming through (I used tri-beam notched straight edge). I tried to get it to the point when amount of such spots were minimum

\- I checked with fret rocker and majority of places it was rocking hard. I tried tapping the frets with fret hammer, but still in many places I could squeeze 0.002 inch feeler gauge under

\- I taped the neck, marked the frets with marker and started doing the leveling with music nomad leveling beam but I had only one for bass so it was much longer than the guitar neck

In the end I filed too much material, the first three frets on treble side was still rocking even though, when marked second fret and clearly seing it's getting brushed it still kept rocking, If I'd go further I'd file down all frets.

Then after crowning I still seen kind of flat frets showing I took too much of material.

i was supporting neck on two neck rest, I had it unscrewed from body.

A bunch of question:

\- was using bass dedicated leveling beam wrong?

\- what can I use to better support keep neck still while doing leveling?

\- all other advices are appreciated and welcomed.

as I have no issue with modifying electronics etc, this seems to be muuuch harder.

I'll keep that telecaster for future learning (fret replacement etc).

Thanks in advance, Andrzej.
