Late 19th and Early 20th century deaths/injuries are absurd to read about

“He was a lonely man—his wife had been killed when her pony cart overturned on a country lane in 1906, three years before he took charge of the foreign office. Work was becoming difficult for him because his eyesight was failing” (age like 45 btw)

Sir Edward Grey, A World Undone by G.J. Meyer

"As a boy of about twelve, young Soso [Stalin] was crossing the dusty streets of Gori when a fast-moving phaeton(a sporty open carriage)—its horse perhaps startled—struck him with force. The impact threw him down, and the carriage wheels or the animal itself inflicted severe trauma to his left arm and shoulder. He lay injured for some time before help came, and the damage required extended treatment in a Tiflis hospital. The bones never healed quite right: the arm emerged shorter than the other, stiff at the elbow, and forever limited in motion—a quiet, nagging reminder of vulnerability in a life already marked by hardship."
