We’re moving out of a slumlord’s apartment

We’re moving out in 24 days, the apartment complex we’re with are slumlords. They charge about $2,000 after you move out to replace EVERYTHING - things that were broken before WE even got there.

My question is - should I start putting in maintenance requests for things now before I move so they don’t charge me or just anticipate the charge anyway?

(We will inevitably get a charge for a light fixture a once that I mindlessly pushed and broke on accident along with carpet that our cat tore down to the wood..)

We also have a giant hold in our ceiling from where they had a leak and we just havent sent a message to get it replaced/fixed yet
