Hogwarts is in utter pandemonium but not in the way you might think. Why? Because Dumbledore's secret is out. One that the entire staff has worked so hard to keep.
Dumbledore has no concept of how much points to award. Which is why the staff makes sure Dumbledore interacts as little as possible with the students.
However that changed at the end of Harry's first year when he gave so many points just for "sheer bravery" , a game of chess and something as vague as keeping a cool head.
So began the students attempts to impress Dumbledore during the next year. Unfortunately they all seemed to miss him until one quidditch game he awarded a Hufflepuff student 150 points for supporting his friend and cheering them even though they were from a different house.
A few more events like this where a student helped another student pick up some books or answered an easy question from their homework. Even Slytherin were getting a lot of points. The secret was out. And so began the race to stop Dumbledore and the students from destroying the point system.
