Dust Cover

Is it really that bad to just remove the dust cover on your turntable permanently? I understand the dust risks associated but as long as I keep up with cleaning it every other day or so would it be detrimental. Due to limitations in my room I have it on tv stand under tv and when you raise it it doesnt open all the way and rests against bottom of tv. I dont hear any resonances from it just irritates me a bit lol.
