AIO - wanted to leave MILs after she made a comment

I’m a Muslim revert (8 years), married into a Muslim family.

I haven’t fasted for the last 3 years as I’ve been either pregnant or breastfeeding. Right now I’m breastfeeding my second.

Prior to this I fasted when I could, I have a history of eating disorder (anorexia mainly) so would not fast if I started to fast for the wrong reasons (lose weight). It’s a very tricky time for me but I try.

Now, I’m at his MILs, everyone is aware I’m breastfeeding. I go into the kitchen where his mum is, his sister and my husband. His mum is at the sink, I grab the kettle to make myself a tea. She turns to me and says

‘have you ever fasted?’

I say no, thinking she means this Ramadan. But she’s looking at me oddly and I say oh, ever? Yes I have

She says something like have you ever fasted in your Muslim life - I say yes I have. I’m upset already as that felt really not nice. I then ask do you want me to fast now? She says no. I say ok then and just silently continue making a tea.

I feel really embarrassed and an ashamed like I should hide the fact I’m not fasting. Idk I feel really crap. I instantly just went to leave with my smallest but my husband said it wouldn’t be good. He Ofc doesn’t understand why I’m upset. But AIO?
