Experiencing racism has destroyed my mental health.

TW: Anxiety / Depression

I’m from SEA and currently studying at a regional university in Australia. Studying in a predominantly white town, I’ve witnessed both conscious and unconscious bias, prejudices, and racism of many kinds at my uni, my workplace and my neighborhood, and sometimes even experienced them myself. As someone who used to be excited about moving to Australia where I thought I would work hard, assimilate into the new way of life and build a good life, I have gradually lost all passion and confidence in my study, my work, myself and myself. I feel like the unpleasant experiences I’ve been through have led to my mental health going downhill and extreme anxiety dealing with people in my daily life. I understand that Australia might have a lot going on right now, and that no people or places are the same. Are these sort of things still common in places with more diverse population? Is it actually real or am I just going nuts being extremely stressed juggling between school, work and life?
