Did I read “The Old Man and the Sea” for nothing??

Everyone told me to read a classic book cuz med school interviewers were gonna ask what you’ve been reading and you can’t admit your shelf is mostly faerie porn!! Not a single interviewer asked me about books. Did I put down my vampire smut to read 100 pages about fish for no reason!?
