.410 and 28 gauge

I have a 410 and reload 3" rounds with 3/4 oz loads of 6 shot to hunt upland birds. I have the chance to get a 28 gauge and wanted to see if there is enough difference between the load I use and the performance of a 28 gauge to make it worth it. I don't have the ability to shoot the 28 before buying it and wanted to see if you all similar experience. Thank you for any help!
