Consultation Process at Dr. Parimal Desai’s Hospital

Rant/vent

TLDR: Paid ₹1900 and spent 4 to 5 hours at the hospital for dry eyes, did multiple tests including Pentacam, but was consulted by a non doctor who focused more on ICL surgery. Left feeling disappointed. Might be better suited for LASIK patients than general eye issues.

I just need to vent. Today I visited Dr. Parimal Desai’s hospital for my dry eyes and excessive blinking. A lot of people had recommended him as a good doctor, so I thought it would be worth it. I paid ₹800 at reception as consultation charges. Then I was called into a room for checkup by assistants, not the doctor. They quoted ₹300 for a schirmer (dry eye test) and ₹800 for a Pentacam. The Pentacam didn’t even seem necessary in my case since I was there for dry eyes, not LASIK or any surgical evaluation. Still, I got it done. After all that, I expected to finally meet the doctor.

Instead, I was consulted by someone named Falguni Pandya, who was clearly more of a sales representative than a doctor. The entire conversation felt like a pitch for ICL transplant surgery and lasik. That’s not even why I went there. I went for dry eyes. To make it worse, she prescribed eye drops despite not being a doctor. In total, I spent ₹1900 and 4 to 5 hours at the hospital, only to be “consulted” by a salesperson instead of an actual ophthalmologist. I honestly feel cheated and misled.

My personal takeaway is this: if you are going there specifically for LASIK or surgical procedures, maybe that is their main area of focus and they might be good at it, though I cannot comment on that. But based on my experience, I would not recommend it for general eye issues like dry eyes.

Has anyone else had a similar experience there?
