dumb ahh question: how do i istall mods using mint?

so i istalled mint but i have zero clue on how to add mods. mod.io wont let me download the files, so i guess i have to use the "add mod" bar. but idk how it works. i firstly tried using the page url, but dint work. then the mod ID, Dint work. also idk the mod.io token thing, i inserted it just in case. yeah beat me up if this is a stupid fix
