Did Xbox 360 games age poorly, or am I just spoiled by 4K?
So I recently bought an Xbox 360 and started testing different games to see how they perform. NFS Carbon actually looks and plays pretty decent, but Far Cry 3 and The Bourne Conspiracy look really rough — especially FC3 with all the FPS drops.
Back when I was 16 playing it in 2012, I remember it looking amazing on my old 360. Now I’m wondering if that was just nostalgia, or if it’s because I mostly play on a Series X hooked up to a 4K TV (even when playing 360 and OG Xbox games), so maybe I’m just spoiled by sharper visuals and higher resolution.
It got me thinking — did a lot of Xbox 360 games age poorly? Or is this just a case of FC3 and Bourne Conspiracy being blurry, grainy, and not very well optimized? Some games just don’t look very pleasing to the eye anymore.
Is there any way to improve the image quality on original hardware? I’ve already set the console to 720p on my old 1080p TV, but it still looks pretty meh.
