Need some advice when playing with friend in ranked

My friend and I play together pretty often but since I hit gold (peak g2) and he is still in silver (peaked s1) it feels like our teams become worst and worst to carry. Maybe its something I'm doing but I play similar to how solo que would be but feels like people actually know how to play around smolder. When in duo it feels like I get hard countered in lanes or the support just loses all brain cells and feeds the carry then blames me. Any input to help us out this hole so we can push to higher ranks?
