Do you get these kind of thoughts too? 🙄
I do sometimes get weird ideas, thoughts like you (hey, unnathaan!), which can‘t be shared with anyone who know (face-to-face) given the awkwardness and judgment you have to bear for the rest of the life 😂. Therefore I decided to share it with you and just clear my head.
While I was reading a tamil novel, I suddenly had a question
“Why women wear anklets, not men?“
Based on my research on internet, it is mostly said that for below reasons
- traditional/cultural heritage
- societal symbol of marital status
- religious/spiritual reasons like
- girl with anklet = Lakshmi = Wealth ⬆️
- against negative powers, as shield 🤭
- of course, health benefits
- improve fertility - Kubeer sirippu moment
- better blood circulation
- Accupuncture
- Other crazy Oruttu‘s are
- “Anklets containing coins inscribed with Hindu deities like Lakshmi are believed to boost immune strength by activating the lymph glands near the ankles“
- [Lakshmi anklets](https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/the-sound-of-lakshmis-anklets-at-charminar/articleshow/259991014.cms), in particular, are thought to curb stress and anxiety through their sonic vibrations and tinkling sounds that soothe the mind. The delicate sound of ankle bells is calming and pleasing to the ears, inducing feelings of tranquility and well-being.

BUT, my guess is that
Women were (and in some places, still are) considered as a wealth/property through whom they make/lose money. So they want to safeguard such a golden duck with extreme care, so they spun many stories, traditions that (always) revolve around women (never about men!). And one such is wearing bangles & anklets to track their movement and presence all the time.
Uughh, finally naan solliten. Now, if you want you can share too. If not, 5 mins spent panni read pannthuku thanks 😊
