Cost of living crisis to prevent stocking up?

I was just reading the threads about WW3 and I was thinking about how could I be prepared if this is to happen.. then it dawned on me.

I am literally living grocery shop to grocery shop because the cost of food and supplies now is so ridiculously expensive (at least in the UK) that I don't actually have the financial capability anymore to 'stock up'. Pre Covid I would of had a full pantry of emergency food, but now that is no longer the case.. We are 6 years post Covid, the supermarkets are making major year on year profits so why is the cost of food still climbing more than ever, is it to prevent us being ready in the event of WW3?

Just a possibility that I thought I would put forward for discussion!
