Long shot. Help me remember a lesson from 3rd grade (usa)?
Hello! I'm 35 now, but I was wondering if any teachers could help me remember a lesson from 3rd grade, it also involves a not so nice teacher.
If I remember correctly, it was either a grammar or spelling lesson. Which were subjects I struggled with a lot (undiagnosed ADHD and learning issues). My teacher would explain a sentence we needed to write, or give us ones to check for accuracy. I always tried my best to listen to the lesson, but I really struggled to understand what the heck my teacher was talking about. When we got the independent work time, I would go up to ask for help, which my teacher didn't like.
She would say: "really, you don't know?" and roll her eyes at me. Then she would announce to the class what my question was, and then never give me the answer or help.
At one point she would ask the class "Does Johnny say 'such and such' in the middle of the night?" To which the class would respond with "No!"
I think this was for sentence structure or grammar or something. So my teacher was asking if it made sense for 'Johnny' to say whatever nonsense sentence in the middle of the night.
I was confused then and I am still confused now. You may also be confused. It was a long time ago and I'm working with the memory of something very confusing. But if anyone has any idea what kind of lesson this was or may have been or what the heck kind of analogy this teacher was using, I'd be so grateful. It's become my own personal mystery. Also, this teacher was very old at the time and likely no longer with us, so not only would I never want to speak to her again, I doubt I could to ask.
Thanks again!!
