Easy QOL Wins for New and Veteran Players Alike

Discussion

I see a lot of posts suggesting big changes (which is great), but I think we’re overlooking some low-hanging fruit that would dramatically reduce friction for both new and veteran players: UI interruptions.

Right now, many UI interactions unnecessarily cancel in-world actions. That breaks flow and makes the game feel clunkier than it needs to be.

For example, while cooking veggie stews I can’t add a friend. If I try, it cancels my cooking queue. Why?

Here are other cases where UI actions interrupt gameplay:

  • Can’t add friends while doing anything — it cancels the action/queue or just dosnt work
  • Dropping items while moving stops movement and/or cancels queue
  • Rearranging inventory stops movement and/or cancels queue
  • Opening an infocard clears your action queue
  • Sending a friend invite stalls during an action → completes → clears queue
  • Can’t interact with the world while a floating UI panel is open
  • Can’t drop items in combat
  • Can’t rearrange inventory in combat
  • Can’t add friends in combat
  • Entering combat closes floating UI panels

Each one of these is a small friction point. On their own, they’re minor. Together, they add up and constantly interrupt the flow of play.

Reducing unnecessary action cancellations would make the game feel dramatically smoother without requiring any new systems — just better separation between UI and gameplay logic.

Even fixing half of these would noticeably improve the experience.
